OK, we’re still the O-fers, but it looks good in a headline.
Sloppy, Pineapple, Burger were the bottom three in the batting order tonight against Ciao Mambo. You might remember Ciao Mambo — they brutally destroyed us during the preseason tournament and it was ciao, mambo. I think we’ve held our own against them since the early dismantling.

Salty said I should write something nice, so I will, right after I wish him good luck as the wedding crasher this weekend. Have fun storming the castle!
So Beck wrote the lineup, and for about three innings he looked like a damn genius because we were on pace to win the game 1-0. But, alas, things . . . → Read More: O-fers 17, Lakers Inn 9

The Evil Monkey switched backs during this game. May Dave enjoy it for a long time.
We came into the game with monkeys on our backs. The big monkey was that we haven’t beaten Integrity in two seasons of trying. A couple of the games have been close, but a couple have been ugly blowouts. (I’m looking at . . . → Read More: Integrity Steel 20, O-fers 16

Sorry about the delay. I spent all night studying the infield fly rule,* especially the part about how it is only supposed to be called if the infielder could catch the fly ball with “ordinary effort.”
Anyway, we won, they lost. It was a close game for a while, at least until the bad juju they set . . . → Read More: O-fers 17, Ciao Mambo 7

I think we ended up tied for seventh out of 16 teams. That’s about where we stand at the moment. There is a clear class of teams above us, ranging from the New York Yankees down to, oh, let’s say Bomb Squad. Nah, make that Moon Time … they’re about 1 percent better than we are . . . → Read More: O-fers notch three wins in Regis

The defense made a timely return Thursday night, because our offensive juggernaut has turned into a juggernaught lately.*
* Good play on words. +5 points to myself.
We actually led this thing most of the way, and even took a 5-4 lead onto the field in the top of the seventh inning. But you can’t expect to win . . . → Read More: Moon Time 7, O-fers 5

A lot of stuff has been going on lately, but that’s still no excuse for me not to pass out some huge compliments to Gregg McCoy for the Bombs Away tournament a couple weeks ago.
This is the third time (I think) we’ve gone to Moscow for Bombs Away, including each of the last two years. Just judging . . . → Read More: Never too late to say nice things

This person wants to be my friend on MSN Live. I'll have to give it some thought.
You gotta be a hell of a hitter to hit into a triple play. Hell of a dumb hitter, in this case.
When did we know this game was going to end badly? Was it when the coach hit into a triple play? That was in the bottom of the third inning. Was it when Rehab struck out looking to start our offensive attack? That was in the bottom of the first.
Maybe it was earlier than that. Maybe it was when Art! got hurt in the top of the first. Maybe it was even before that, when the ball seemed to elude efforts by Rehab and Big Cat to grab it cleanly. Continue reading Integrity Steel 16, O-fers 5

Hot damn! Two straight wins to start our latest foray into the upper league. I like.
The game looked like it was going to be a blowout early, with the O-fers jumping out to a 10-2 lead after three innings. House had a three-pitch, three-out first inning, but made the mistake of allowing Airsoft to hit the . . . → Read More: O-fers 25, Spokane Airsoft 10
