You gotta be a hell of a hitter to hit into a triple play. Hell of a dumb hitter, in this case.

When did we know this game was going to end badly? Was it when the coach hit into a triple play? That was in the bottom of the third inning. Was it when Rehab struck out looking to start our offensive attack? That was in the bottom of the first.

Maybe it was earlier than that. Maybe it was when Art! got hurt in the top of the first. Maybe it was even before that, when the ball seemed to elude efforts by Rehab and Big Cat to grab it cleanly. Continue reading Integrity Steel 16, O-fers 5

It was a ball-slapping situation

We won the game 15-14, but the May 13 game against Lake City Community Church should have ended in an O-fers victory by a 13-12 score. My website, my opinion. Here’s the situation that got us up in arms and almost cost us a win.

The Setup: LCCC had runners on first and third with two outs in the top of the seventh, trailing by one run.

Event: The LCCC batter hits a sharp ground ball that hits the runner on third. It was clearly a fair ball. The runner told anyone who would listen that the ball hit him on the ankle, so let’s assume that he wouldn’t lie about that. Was the runner still touching third, or had he jumped off the bag to avoid the ball? I don’t know, but I thought at the time that he had jumped. I wish I had a Zapruder film of him limping home. Is it spring yet?

Softball dream last night:

The O-fers were playing their first game at nationals (yeah; that’s why they call them dreams). I was out in left-center field with the scorekeeper, my arms filled with the usual stuff: scorebooks, rosters, etc. We were batting first because, well, we can’t win a coin toss even in my dreams.
