I think we ended up tied for seventh out of 16 teams. That’s about where we stand at the moment. There is a clear class of teams above us, ranging from the New York Yankees down to, oh, let’s say Bomb Squad. Nah, make that Moon Time … they’re about 1 percent better than we are right now.
And there’s a clear group of teams below us. Farts. Any team named after a bodily function is probably not as good as the O-fers.
The factors that move teams to or from a tournament like St. Regis basically wash out: beer tournament (+), local tradition (+), in the sticks (-), during 4th of July weekend (-). So you end up with a mix of lower D to upper C talent, and the O-fers are right in the middle. The last two years, in fact, we’ve actually won the first game on Sunday and lasted at least until noon.
Obviously, since that’s where I think we fit in that group of teams, I’m not surprised or disappointed in the outcome. My theory has always been that if you pay for three games, anything extra is a bonus. In this case, we played five games, so that was quite good.
Thanks to all the regulars who went; to our pickup players: Sterling and Kirby Smalls, Mark Worsfold and Keegan Williams; and of course, the O-fers 4 Life: Dwayne Curry and Frank Morden.
Not a bad performance, but it came with a cost. One bent knee brace ( Black ) a Lexus windshield ( Miller ) and a hurt knee ( morrison ). More good memories from Regis. Okay the sand pit infield sucked, but at least they continue to improve on the tourny as a whole.
Sure wish I could of been there. First time I have missed I think. darn…
