O-fers 17, Ciao Mambo 7

Sorry about the delay. I spent all night studying the infield fly rule,* especially the part about how it is only supposed to be called if the infielder could catch the fly ball with “ordinary effort.”

Anyway, we won, they lost. It was a close game for a while, at least until the bad juju they set on us during the preseason tournament (when they killed us and burned down our village) wore off. We took the lead in the third inning, and pulled away in the fourth and fifth until boom, game over by mercy rule.

Frank Morden went 4-for-4 in the leadoff spot, which is exactly the lift we needed with our main offense sputtering in recent games. Mike Black was 3-for-3 with a walk, but he’s always 3-for-3 with a walk or a double or something, so why the hell should he get any special attention for this game?

This was the first game of a twi-night doubleheader out at the ‘Stick. OK, it was at Ramsey. Second game highlights upcoming as soon as I find a picture of the evil monkey.

* For instance, did you know that the rule was first used in 1895?
