Click to embiggen … if . . . → Read More: Scariest graph of the day Salty said I should write something nice, so I will, right after I wish him good luck as the wedding crasher this weekend. Have fun storming the castle! So Beck wrote the lineup, and for about three innings he looked like a damn genius because we were on pace to win the game 1-0. But, alas, things . . . → Read More: O-fers 17, Lakers Inn 9 Sorry about the delay. I spent all night studying the infield fly rule,* especially the part about how it is only supposed to be called if the infielder could catch the fly ball with “ordinary effort.” Anyway, we won, they lost. It was a close game for a while, at least until the bad juju they set . . . → Read More: O-fers 17, Ciao Mambo 7 I think we ended up tied for seventh out of 16 teams. That’s about where we stand at the moment. There is a clear class of teams above us, ranging from the New York Yankees down to, oh, let’s say Bomb Squad. Nah, make that Moon Time … they’re about 1 percent better than we are . . . → Read More: O-fers notch three wins in Regis It’s noon, and so far they have cancelled adult tennis for tonight, but softball is still “on as scheduled.” I put the over/under for cancellation time at 2 p.m. Update: Cancelled at 1:30 p.m. . . . → Read More: This should be a no-brainer Angelo’s on McEuen 2 at 7:15 and the weather basically, well, all day. Eighty percent chance of rain Tuesday and 70 percent on Wednesday. We should expect cold weather and plan on being flexible with our schedules. If the games are on schedule, we will win and play Thursday night, same field, same time. The O-fers are, if not exactly shorthanded, certainly hurting at certain positions. Until we get Sloppy, Mookie or The Rick available to take the outfield, our offense is going to have to carry most of the load. That plan worked well in the first game on Saturday. Iron Horse Saloon dropped seven runs on us in the top of the first inning, but we turned right back around and dropped a 12-bomb on them in the bottom of the same inning. We scored a bunch, gave up a bunch, and in the final inning, we started with a nine-run inning and finished with a three-run victory, 33-30. Thirty-three runs per game would probably lead to a lot of wins. Continue reading Spring Fling recap I attended a meeting last night concerning the future of McEuen Field (also Front Avenue and the boat launches there). About 50 people, including councilmembers, the mayor, Recreation Director Steve Anthony and Parks Director Doug Eastwood were there to contribute. Continue reading The future of McEuen Field … Beck rips line drives all over the field. … Beasley runs without pulling any muscles. … Bobo pitches to four batters and doesn’t walk any of ‘em. … Black shows off his new piece of cyborg equipment. … Hamburglar looks smooth in holding down left field. … Art shows up late. Wait, actually, that’s a sign that it’s Art. And finally, . . . → Read More: You know it’s spring when… Based upon the turnout for the first semi-official practice of 2010, Beck is going to be leading off and playing the outfield. Not just 0ne spot. The whole outfield. Yeah, I know. It was short notice, so everybody is forgiven. We’ll try to do better next week. As a bonus, here’s an interesting video.
